Last year, Thomas Dobmeyer joined his first professional podcast - hosted by Pedro Coelho / Biorce during 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐍𝐃 Conference in Barcelona September 2025.

Hard to believe, right? With so many years of experience, it was still his very first podcast. It’s never too late - whether it’s your first recording, a new job, or even building a company from scratch. I was lucky enough to listen in, and one sentence really stayed with me:

“𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑠𝑠 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠𝑛’𝑡 𝑔𝑟𝑜𝑤 𝑓𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑖𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑝𝑢𝑙𝑙 𝑖𝑡.”

Thomas was referring to the early stages of everything - whether it’s business, investment, research, or even personal growth.

No matter the industry, the beginning is always the hardest. Before you get funding, you have to prove yourself. And you simply can’t rush through that stage. That’s where many competitors fall.

He also spoke about market access for new drugs and treatments - still painfully long - but hopefully regulatory and technological innovation is finally starting to close the gap between discovery and delivery.

As the Biorce team beautifully put it on their website:

“𝐸𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑤𝑒 𝑐𝑢𝑡 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑐𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑑𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑝𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑎 𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔.”

Thomas also raised an important point:

Despite the global nature of science and disease, regulatory approval criteria still differ across countries. That means access to treatment can depend on where you live, not what you need. The more aligned we are globally, the sooner breakthroughs can reach the people who need them most.

𝐷𝑖𝑠𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑒𝑠 𝑑𝑜𝑛’𝑡 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑐𝑡 𝑔𝑒𝑜𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑝ℎ𝑦 - 𝑠𝑜 𝑤ℎ𝑦 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑠?
